The Indian Journal of Nuclear Medicine (IJNM)- the official journal of the Society of Nuclear Medicine, India is published quarterly. Prima facie, IJNM is the mirror reflection of exponential growth of our speciality portraying the cutting- edge research from academic Institutes both from India and abroad!

I had been associated with IJNM for a very long time and is privy to the rapid growth and scientific visibility amongst its sister Imaging journals. I can say with confidence that IJNM is among top imaging journal in India and ranked 223 by ‘Scimago Journal Ranking’ in the category of ‘Radiology, Nuclear Medicine and Imaging’ in the world.

I wish to congratulate all the honourable members of Society of Nuclear Medicine, India for submitting good quality scientific papers to IJNM and citing papers published in IJNM in their research papers submitted to IJNM and other Pubmed indexed journals. I also thank, our journal publisher “Wolters & Cluwer” for their efforts, firstly to get IJNM indexed with major scientific indexing platforms including Pubmed and now getting impact factor. Because of your continuous efforts, IJNM got first impact factor in 2023 which 0.5 within few years after the journal got indexing in PubMed.

The journal is indexed with all the major scientific indexing platforms viz: EMBASE/ Excerpta Medica, Emerging Sources Citation Index, Indian Science Abstracts, IndMed, MedInd, PubMed Central, Scimago Journal Ranking, SCOPUS, Web of Science.

The journal is registered with the following abstracting partners:Baidu Scholar, CNKI (China National Knowledge Infrastructure), EBSCO Publishing’s Electronic Databases, Ex Libris – Primo Central, Google Scholar, Hinari, Infotrieve, National Science Library, ProQuest, TDNet, Wanfang Data.

The quality of the research papers published in IJNM is now of international standards and we are now receiving research publications in IJNM from many accomplished nuclear medicine colleagues from overseas countries. In the International meetings (SNMMI and EANM), when we display IJNM publications at our society exhibition booth, the hard copies are picked up in no time which is a testimony to its growing demand and increasing prominence.

I anticipate that the journal is taken to further new heights shortly and its impact factor goes further up. This should be possible only if all the Nuclear Medicine stalwarts of the country submit their high -quality work for publication in IJNM and cite the relevant publications in their papers submissions in other major international journals. Increasing the periodicity of the journal (bi-monthly issue with minimum of 6 annual issues) and gradually to monthly issues and at least one thematic issue/year inviting and publishing both original and review articles from eminent scientists from India and elsewhere with further enhance the visibility and prominence of IJNM internationally amongst the Imaging journals. This has relevance when the World is looking up on India in our growing eminence in radiotheranostics.[12]
