Dr. Ravi Kashyap, beloved husband, father and our dear colleague passed away from this world on Thursday, December 15, 2016, at the age of 56 after an untimely and unexpected illness. He was surrounded by closest family and friends.

Dr. Ravi Kashyap was born 1960 in Delhi, India. He graduated with a medical degree from the University College of Medical Sciences of Delhi University in 1982 and obtained his Diploma in Radiation Medicine from INMAS in 1985. He further specialized in Medical Radio Diagnosis in 1993 and completed his medical education and nuclear medicine specialty studies as Commonwealth Medical Fellow at St. Bartholomew's Hospital in London from 1995 to 1996. Dr. Kashyap had joined as Scientist C on 21-07-1986 at DRDO, INMAS, Delhi. Later he became Scientist G & Additional Director of INMAS on 1-07-2008.

Dr. Ravi Kashyap joined IAEA at Vienna in year 2009. He was a Technical officer at Nuclear Medicine and Diagnostic Imaging Section of Division of Human Health at International Atomic Energy Agency, Vienna Austria. He was engaged in building capacity in Member States of IAEA in the field of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine.

He also received Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions in the field of Nuclear Medicine and Diagnostic Imaging on 1st July 2016. The award honours Dr. Kashyap's exceptional contribution to the performance, propagation and progress of Nuclear Medicine and Diagnostic Imaging.

Dr Ravi Kashyap had shown a lifelong commitment to promoting nuclear medicine, in the service of cancer patients worldwide. As India's Ambassador in Vienna, he had been associated with some innovative projects in the field of Nuclear Medicine. He was a great inspiration for his colleagues and peers, for his passion to do good.

He was very fond of Golf. He made it a point to play a Golf game where ever he went. He organized many Conferences & Social events and actively participated in them. He will sit in the front row and interact actively with the speakers. He liked to party hard. He enjoyed his wine and dancing to the music played at such occasions. He travelled a lot all over the world and his job at IAEA gave him many opportunities to go to several countries where he helped in his own way to set up Nuclear Medicine Division wherever the need be. He was an excellent orator. His communication capability was phenomenal. Though he use to always work on his presentations at last minute sitting in the department late in the evening. But to my surprise he was always ready with his stuff on time.

Dr. Kashyap will be deeply missed by his family, Nuclear Medicine Fraternity, friends and all the DRM students of INMAS who knew him as a dynamic and dedicated teacher. He had great leadership qualities, a Mentor for many in the field of Nuclear Medicine and worked dedicatedly to enhance the interest of Nuclear Medicine Community at large.
