Dr. VSN Murthy from Hyderabad, one of the senior members of Society of Nuclear Medicine (SNM), India passed away on 15th October 2012. He had coronary artery disease and had survived a recent myocardial infarction. He suffered a cardiac arrest and succumbed to the disease. He served the Government of Andhra Pradesh in the MNJ Cancer Institute and retired as a professor. He was running the Hyderabad Isotope Lab for more than three decades with Radio-immuno-assay, thyroid uptake and rectilinear scanner facilities. He had treated about 5000 thyrotoxicosis patients in his lifetime, at very low cost.
Recognizing his contribution to the fraternity, he was conferred with Brig Majumdar Memorial Oration in year 2000 at Mumbai during the 32nd annual conference of SNM, India.
We convey our heartfelt condolence to his family, particularly to his son Dr. Swaroop H Valluri, a Nuclear Medicine Physician.
