The Indian Journal of Nuclear Medicine (IJNM) is an open-access peer-reviewed journal committed to publishing high-quality articles in the field of Nuclear Medicine, PET/CT Imaging, Theranostics, and Targeted Radionuclide Therapy. The journal is owned by the Society of Nuclear Medicine, India and published by the Scientific Scholar.

Role of The Journal/Society

Editorial Process and Direction: The Society of Nuclear Medicine India plays a central role in the editorial direction of the journal “Indian Journal of Nuclear Medicine”. Specifically:

  • Editorial Board Appointment: The Society of Nuclear Medicine India appoints the Editor-in-Chief and oversees the composition of the editorial board.
  • Editorial Policy and Scope: The aims and scope of the journal are determined by the Society of Nuclear Medicine India in consultation with the editorial board to ensure alignment with the Association’s mission and the needs for the community.
  • Peer Review Process and Final Decisions: The Editor-in-Chief, who is appointed by and reports to the Society of Nuclear Medicine India manages the peer review process, makes final decisions on manuscripts, and ensures editorial independence and scientific integrity.
  • Strategic Direction: Major decisions regarding journal strategy, policy updates, or editorial initiatives are made under the guidance of the Society of Nuclear Medicine India Executive Committee.

Role of Scientific Scholar

Scientific Scholar serves solely as the publishing partner, providing publishing infrastructure, manuscript management system, website hosting, copyediting, production, and distribution services to support the journal’s publication process. Scientific Scholar does not influence or participate in the editorial decisions or the peer review process.

Aims & Scope

Aim:

The primary aim of IJNM is to provide a high-quality academic platform for the dissemination of scientific research, clinical experience, and technological advancements in nuclear medicine. The journal seeks to promote evidence-based practice, encourage innovation, and support the integration of diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine into routine clinical care. It emphasizes the growing role of theranostics and personalized medicine, facilitating the translation of research findings into improved patient outcomes. Additionally, IJNM aims to foster academic collaboration among clinicians, researchers, physicists, and allied professionals working in nuclear medicine and related disciplines.

Scope:

The scope of IJNM is broad and encompasses all aspects of nuclear medicine, molecular imaging and radioisotope therapy. Key areas include positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT), single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT), hybrid imaging, radiopharmaceutical development, targeted radionuclide therapy, and emerging theranostic approaches. The journal publishes a wide range of article types, including original research articles, review articles, case reports, image challenge, CME article, pictorial essays, technical notes, and clinical guidelines. It also welcomes contributions in areas such as radiation physics, instrumentation, dosimetry, radiobiology, and quality assurance.

IJNM particularly focuses on clinical applications in oncology, cardiology, neurology, endocrinology, and infectious diseases, reflecting the expanding role of nuclear medicine in multidisciplinary care. The journal also highlights cost-effective and indigenous innovations relevant to developing countries, especially in the Indian healthcare context.

Our audience includes researchers from the field of Nuclear Medicine, PET/CT Imaging, Theranostics, and Targeted Radionuclide Therapy.

Review Process

IJNM has a highly rigorous peer-review process that makes sure that manuscripts are scientifically accurate, relevant, novel and important. Authors disclose all conflicts, affiliations and financial associations such that the published content is not biased.

Editorial Team

The editorial board comprises a panel of experts from various disciplines of medical and allied sciences to provide their expertise and guidance in maintaining the clarity of content and focus of the purpose for the journal.

Plagiarism Policy

The journal uses plagiarism check software (iThenticate) on the Editor’s and Reviewer’s panel in the manuscript management system which is used to check and control Plagiarism for each article. Any manuscript, that is found to have plagiarism is rejected.

We use PORTICO for our third-party repository for all articles published with us. All our articles are assigned a DOI number. We are members of https://crossref.org

Articles published online under the Ahead of Print model are considered published and can be cited and quoted using the DOI as the reference source. Indian Journal of Nuclear Medicine has a policy that changes will not be made after the publication of an article without following accepted procedures for making corrections to the scientific record.
